Co-creating the leading digital art market on Ethereum introducing sovereign contracts, mint flows and a $150M token drop to empower the Artist Community for SuperRare, the Industry NFT Marketplace.

Goals

In the 2020 crypto market Bull Run, the surge in NFTs prompted the business to upgrade and identify key aspects of the marketplace. This decision aimed to enhance the community's experience and boost revenue.

Challenge

The team and I had to create pioneering solutions in the fast-paced and highly competitive environment, features had to sync with the volatile crypto markets. I delved into web3 technology to set new UI/UX standards without visual precedents, all while closely collaborating to balance user feedback, technical limitations, and our design goals.

My Contribution & Team

I joined a small, globally distributed team of about 15 as a Senior UI/UX Designer. My main focus was revising, creating, and implementing functional designs to showcase artists' work and increase art trading. Initially, I collaborated closely with the Head of Design, one developer, and the CTO. Throughout the year, the team grew significantly to around 50 people.

Solution

I conducted competitor research, assessed the existing marketplace to see opportunities, revamped minting flows to increase mints, designed a $150M $RARE token claiming process and helped on the campaign. Results

By end of 2021, SR successfully placed artwork ownership and trading in hands of artists, collectors, and the digital art community with the release of sovereign contracts, and achieved over $90M in NFT sales and was the platform with most sales in the year.

SuperRare is a leading and first Digital Art Marketplace on the Ethereum Blockchain. Each artwork is created and tokenised by an artist as a non-fungible token (NFT), that users can own, display and trade.

Sovereign Contracts

SuperRare 2.0, added Custom Series and Spaces, giving artists full control of their creative and economic destinies.

With custom series, an artist can deploy a custom NFT minting contract and begin tokenizing and selling their art independently.

Spaces are independently run storefronts that can curate art and artists, promote sales, run auctions, and collect commissions.

Design systems were placed to keep scaling the product quickly across devices,

I'm interested in onboarding and educating users about Web3, thankfully, I was given the liberty to create this within the product. SuperRare also prioritised suggested features from the community.

The community has been supporting the platform since 2008. To thank them, personalised emails were sent inviting users to claim their #RARE tokens.

I was responsible for #RARE drop claiming interface and email communication.

Dashboards & CMS

To provide users with a certain level of management of their Artworks, I helped with a few content management systems. This is an added layer behind the scenes but necessary to provide the best to the community.

This journey shows the change tab, where we can add or edit an estimated cost, view cost history, search entries and apply filters.

I helped landscape some content management systems for users to manage their Artworks behind the scenes. It's an extra layer to the product but provides the best customization available to the community.
